Quite a fantastic package for beginners! It arrived just like on of the videos posted. This is a perfect first guitar for a young person with smaller hands. All you need is a strap even has two buttons! Mine arrived flawless with elegant solid spruce top and mohagany back and sides. A beautiful rosewood fingerboard with nice inlays for fret markers. The front of the head stock is darkened - a nice touch and complements the black machine heads which tune well.
Out of the secure packaging The bridge was very secure. The abalone rosetta and black binding give it a special presentation along with black machine heads and fingerboard inlays. Included a cappo, replacement strings change after two months of playing and lemon oil the fingerboard and bridge. Use furniture polish lightly on the rest of guitar before putting in new strings on.
After tuning the guitar has a nice tone and stayed in tune. There was no buzzing after I tuned and played it. This acoustic guitar with cutaway is great for finger picking and harmonics. This is one of the top 5 guitars when combining price with quality and playability for a new player or seasoned player.
A great gift too! One person found this helpful. Lifting bridge on arrival, no warranty support. So I returned and then waited for them to restock at a price I felt comfortable taking a chance on, and when this went on sale I snatched it up. What a night and day difference!
It's almost as if the company read my review and fixed my complaints. Even the inlays are even! There was some residue on a few of the tuners, probably oil as they turn smoothly, and no desiccant packet. You still can't convince me that the fingerboard and bridge are rosewood it looks more like ebony, which means at this price it's composite, or technical wood, i. I believe Aiersi's website says the fingerboard is composite. Completely fine at this price point, took my hammer abuse like a champ.
But the top is still solid spruce with a lot of crazy grain width variation, which I'd rather see than have it trashed for not being perfect, and the back and sides are still laminate mahogany. I may take pictures, but I think I'm at my limit, and the way they get jumbled after uploading might confuse people. The neck feels very lightweight compared to my other acoustics, not sure if it's hog or nato or maybe more composite.
But it feels good, nice full c shape, with great action thanks to the well cut plastic nut and saddle. Truss rod works I thought it might help the lifting frets but for some reason these economy companies keep shipping out the wrong size hex wrenches! Sigma did, too Don't bother with the one included, you'll think it's broken. I used my 4mm hex wrench, it turned smoothly with good response.
But the guitar arrived with absolutely perfect relief, so you probably won't need to use it. Same accessories as before tuner is pretty good, capo not as bad as it looks. Inside label is different, with some Chinese branding in the upper left corner, so I'm sure this is a different production run.
It's a helluva beginner guitar. Doesn't compare with my more expensive acoustics, or even the Sigma, but lightyears better than what most beginners got years ago. That said, I could see this being your only guitar. Speaking of which, I wonder why the guy with the long blond hair, Chad Kalhagen, doesn't make videos with his anymore?
Did it fall apart? I'd be curious for an update. So I do think I got a lemon the first time. And to be fair I'll average out the two reviews and upgrade my 1 star to 3. Very happy I took another chance, as this will find plenty of play, may even outlast my Sigma because of my playing style I use the cutaway. If you're on the fence, possibly because of my caveat emptor review, I'd get one while they're still on sale, because they might not come back in stock a third time.
Maybe I got a lemon? It does happen. I got a Sigma through Amazon back in October and while I gave it 4 and then 3 stars because of setup issues rating with a beginner in mind , it is miles better than this guitar. If you want value and a guitar that will continue to get better, look at the Sigmas here on Amazon. Buttery play, dreadnought cannon loud, impeccable wood, impeccable frets, impeccable finish. I should probably go edit my review a third time to 5 stars lol.
This Aiersi, on the other hand, is roughly finished all around, almost as if it's a kit guitar you could put together yourself. The solid top almost has a knotty pine look to it lol! The sound hole is roughly cut, similar to select tops, with just enough indication it's a solid top. The wood inside has lots of issues, possibly just aesthetic. The rosewood bridge and fingerboard look more like composite or maybe richlite to me; they just do not have that look or feel of rosewood or even real wood.
The back and sides and neck are nice, though, and while the top binding has very comfortable rounded edges, the back is sharp, and digs into me while playing. The silver Aiersi headstock logo, fake off-center MOP fingerboard inlays and fake abalone rosette have a cheesy look and detract from what could otherwise be a nice, albeit rough, aesthetic. While this guitar initially had an excellent sound, the joy of playing deteriorated fast.
I planned on going through some songs, got to the 3rd song and only played the verse and chorus, gave up on the 4th song just doing the intro. When you don't want to play a guitar, you know there's a problem. The frets have sharp edges below the 12th fret; above the 12th fret, the high E barely touches down on them see pic! Past the 12th fret I can barely fret to make a note sound!
So much for the cutaway. The worst, however, is the lifting bridge. At least a mm spacing just eyeballing it, paper slides in up to the bridge pins. Easy, sure, but expensive. So much for the excellent value of this guitar I may be able to polish the frets myself, but I can't make them longer so that the high E actually lands on them properly, and I certainly don't trust myself to reglue a bridge.
The email reply also mentioned all the free accessories that the guitar comes with! The capo works, but it's plastic and feels like it will break. The padded gig bag? Look at my pic!
